 Caipirinha: Brazil's national cocktail
So what is this secret you ask? It’s only the pride and joy of Brazil.. or at least of their beverage world. It’s the nation’s signature cocktail, the Caipirinha! The Brazilian classic has very distinct ingredients and preparation that Talara has mastered for that authentic South American experience.
What makes the Caipirinha so unique is the cachaça that is used to prepare it. Cachaça is Brazil’s most common distilled alcoholic beverage. The liquor is made from fermented sugarcane. It is similar to rum, but is produced solely from cane juice as opposed to molasses. It is a main staple for tropical drinks, but is famous for making the ever popular Caipirinha. Fresh lime and brown sugar are mixed in a glass, where the lime is crushed just enough to release the juice. The cachaça is stirred in next with ice, putting the finishing touch on the delicious and potent tropical cocktail.
What could be more fit for these warm summer evenings than a little tropical cool down from a Caipirinha, or any of the other mouthwatering treats at Talara, home of Baltimore’s Best Happy Hour. See you there!

Asian tartare with tuna, fire and ice with crab and tiradito with salmon

Don’t worry, if your brain is fried after a week of work, you can always order the Chef’s Table, which includes 7 courses of various seviche and tapas.
A Sampling to Share
Tapas also allow diners to try a plethora of new dishes because the portions are small and perfect to split among co-workers or friends at happy hour. You don’t have to choose between seafood or poultry- order both the coconut shrimp tempura and pulled chicken tostada to share!
 Mojitos
Drinks All Around
Of course, the perfect Baltimore happy hour would not be complete without a variety of drinks that compliment the tasty bites. Talara whips up amazing seviche every day!
Everyone may know that fettuccini comes from Italy, the crepe from France and gyros from Greece, but ever wonder where seviche originates?
Although it may seem obvious that seviche comes from Latin America, there has been question as to which country. After much debate, many historians have agreed that seviches come from Peru and the Southern coasts of Ecuador, dating back over 5000 years ago.
It is said that every Spanish civilization had its own way of preparing seviche, (sometimes spelled ceviche or cebiche). It had been common to cook using citrus juices as a quick way to prepare the food quickly to consume. Other common marinates were limes cilantro and chili.
Talara offers seven different types of seviche, some of which include: The Traditional Seviche, marinated with fresh lime, jalapeno pepper, scallions, red onion and cilantro, served with fresh corn tortilla chips. Avocado and Corn Seviche, marinated with fresh lime, jalapeno, cilantro, scallions, red onion, avocado, corn and red pepper, fresh malanga chips. Curried Tropical Fruit Seviche, marinated with fresh lime, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, scallions, red onion, green curry and fresh seasonal tropical fruits, served with fresh plantain chips.
Don’t forget, you can enjoy your favorite seviche every Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. for Baltimore’s best Happy Hour!
That’s right, Talara is now making it possible to have your salsa and eat it too. Salsa Night is every Monday, so come join in on this sexy night of dancing. Don’t know how? Free lessons are from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. so you’ll be dancing like a pro just in time for open dance from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.
A whole night of dancing will have you working up an appetite, so now you can eat your salsa too…for only $7. Enjoy plantain, malanga and tortilla chips with black bean hummus, curried tropical fruits and Talara house salsa as you break from the dance floor.
Keeping with the theme of spice, try a traditional seviche. Marinated with fresh lime, jalapeno pepper, scallions, red onion and cilantro and served with fresh corn tortilla chips, this seviche is another great option to fill up in between dances.
